Books

There’s nothing I love more than curling up with a good book and a cuppa. I don’t get as much time to indulge as I would like but I’ve collected an awful lot of fascinating books over the course of my studies and will share them here with you. I’ve added a link to my Bookshop in case you’d like to buy any of them. It’s always nice to support smaller businesses and if you buy any of my recommendations I get a wee something too!

Current Reading Pile

Descent & Rising: Women’s Stories and the Embodiment of the Inanna Myth by Carly Mountain. Oooph. What a journey. Another one that I’m working my way through very slowly. A workbook as well as a collection of real women’s stories that complement Inanna’s heroine’s journey into the underworld and back again. Feminine, dark, challenging and wise. You’ll be transformed, as she was.

How to Kill a Witch - a Guide for the Patriarchy by Claire Mitchell and Zoe Venditozzi. There’s definitely been a theme to my reading of late - female authors, a witchy vibe and some very dark thoughts about the patriarchy. And this is no exception. A thoroughly researched investigation into how and why the Scottish Witch Hunts of 16th - 18th centuries, which saw around 4000 folk (mostly women) tortured and killed in horrific ways, happened. Essential reading for us modern day Quarrelsome Dames.

Bits and Bobs

I buy a lot of candles, incense and crystals. I find they really support my practice, helping me to cleanse my space and focus my intention. I’m not affiliated to any of the following businesses, they just make and sell lovely things and I think they deserve a bit of love!

Soul Emporium - candles, crystals, ritual kits, books and meditations. Kirsty Gallagher is the real deal and she surrounds herself with souls who share her ethos. Everything is beautiful and ethically sourced, making it good for the planet as well as for you.

Temple of Incense - the most incredible incense EVER. Oudh is my all time favourite but the Himalayan Spikenard, Rose and Nag Champa Gold are also amazing. I haven’t bought anything I haven’t liked from them. The packaging is beautiful and they sell so much more than incense sticks. The Attar and oils are amazing, I love their matchboxes and the Kashmiri bowls are gorgeous. A great place for gifts as well as to treat yourself.

Hay House - I try to avoid Amazon as much as I can and tend to buy my Oracle Cards from here. Special mention to Sharon Blackie’s Rooted Women, Adriana Ayales’ The Herbal Astrology Oracle and Amanda Lynn Aisling’s Inner Child Oracle. Although in fairness I’ve yet to come across a deck I haven’t loved!

Props

I have a lot of props. Some I love and use a lot. Others I’m not so keen on. I’ve listed the suppliers below. Again, I’m not affiliated with them in any way. I just love their stuff. If you’re going to treat yourself to a few yoga bits - or ask someone else to treat you - then I would recommend these suppliers.

Yoga Matters - they sell everything and it’s all good stuff!

Complete Unity Yoga - eco-friendly, sustainable, ethical yoga and meditation equipment. I bought my last yoga mat from them and it is amazing.
